Letter that went home today with your child.

Dear Parents,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here are the goals for January:

Goal #1: Your child needs to write 5 sentences of his/her choice and analyse the sentences. Please see the example below. Your child needs to write the 5 sentences in his/her JDF and hand it every Friday during the month of January. Please ensure your child brings his/her JDF each day to class.

GOAL #2: Your child needs to play 10 minutes of French games each night. This could be Duolingo (Grade 4 will need to create their own account - *Excellent way to learn French), QUIA French, Bonjour de France, TFO http://www.tfo.org/fr/jeux (Grade 4 & 5) You will need to create your own account. It is a site to practice verbs, grammar, adjectives...

*Maybe your child will need to search for games. I am now trying to have your child be more independent and take responsibilities for their education.

Bonjour chers parents,

Today in music class, students performed Jingle Bells. They sounded great.

Julia U. Kiara, Maeve and Lucy played very well as a group.

Aren, Fabrizio, Gabriel and Ali were the second group to perform. Bravo!

Joey, and Isabella played well too. 

Next, Sophia, Keiko and Victoria played this music piece. Bravo les filles.

Several students also performed Jingle Bells by themselves. They had great control and great tempo. I am so very happy to see and hear that so many students practice at home. 

It was a wonderful way to start our Christmas holidays.

We started a new unit in Language Arts: 'Procedural Writing'. Here is an overview:

Un bon texte procédural contient:
*un titre,
*un but clairement indiqué,
*une liste de matériel ou ingrédients nécessaires,
*toutes les étapes nécessaires;
*les étapes doivent être en ordre séquentielle, une par ligne, en utilisant des numéros, ou des mots comme: premièrement, ensuite, finalement
*un dessin ou un diagramme,
*des verbes simples (infinitif ou impératif).

Tuesday, December 20th: Green Grinch Day! Dress up as the Grinch or wear green to SMY.

Wednesday, December 21th: Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree! Wear your favourite hat, sweater, coloured necklace... let's rock Christmas at SMY!

Thursday, December 22nd: Frosty the Snowman Day! Wear white.

Friday, December 23rd: Wear your favourite p.j.'s.

Dear Parents,

After being away for two weeks, this is the BEAUTIFUL welcome back that I received. I was very touched, and I feel blessed to be teaching your child. Merci beaucoup les amis. Merci pour les jolies cartes. Elles sont tellement belles et réconfortantes. Je suis contente d'être de retour. 





For the next two weeks, it will be very busy. We need to finish projects and do presentations in order to come back in the new year starting fresh.
